AHIP 2022 Is History. But Its Lessons Are Driving the Future of Healthcare.

American Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), the national association representing nearly 1300 member organizations providing health insurance coverage to more than 200 million Americans, wrapped up its 2022 national conference in Vegas on June 23.

In its first live conference since 2019, AHIP’s flagship event brought together some of the brightest minds in the industry to share insights and innovations that have the power to reshape the future of healthcare.

Advances in digital technology continue to improve the quality of care while also making it more accessible and less expensive. To that end, here are just a few of the key trends from AHIP that will continue to drive healthcare improvement in 2022 and beyond.

DON'T MISS AN UPDATE

Health Equity – COVID-19 underscored the critical need to improve and sustain the health of under-represented and underserved communities. Accordingly, insurance providers are more committed than ever to addressing health equity.

Telehealth – Given the nation’s favorability toward telehealth, health insurance providers are doubling down on telehealth with plans to expand its use to include a wider range of services, and to eventually make it available to every U.S citizen.

Member Experience – As consumers demand more ease and convenience in every aspect of their lives, health plans and providers alike are striving to exceed consumer expectations by delivering more patient-centric care.

Payment Integrity – Providing the latest insights on payment integrity, AHIP 2022 featured an outstanding presentation by one of the industry’s leading experts, Dr. Rae McIntee, Medical & Dental Director, Fraud, Waste & Abuse, Payment Integrity Management at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. McIntee and her team specialize in identifying new aberrancies and schemes to ensure healthcare dollars are spent wisely and accurately. With a robust payment integrity program driven by advanced artificial intelligence, payors can uncover millions of dollars in hidden savings that can used to help ensure health equity, improve the member experience, and expand access to telehealth.

On behalf of everyone at MedReview, we would like to express our thanks and appreciation to AHIP, the speakers, and all the sponsors and exhibitors who made AHIP 2022 such a worthwhile and informative event.
