William C. Thompson, Jr

William C. Thompson, Jr., who served two terms as the 42nd Comptroller of New York City under Mayor Michael Bloomberg in the first decade of the century, joined the Board of Directors of NYCHSRO/MedReview in 2014. Known as a dedicated advocate for innovation, diversity and progress in the public and private sectors, Bill Thompson is a recognized leader with decades of success in government, finance, and education.

In his early career, Mr. Thompson served as Brooklyn’s youngest Deputy Borough President under Howard Golden and played a key role in healing the deep racial divide in the borough following the Crown Heights riots. From 1994 to 2001, he served on the New York City Board of Education, including five terms as president prior to his tenure as the City Comptroller, which ended in 2009. Later, under New York Governor David Paterson, he served as Chairman of the Board of the Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority from 2010 to 2012.

Since 2015, Mr. Thompson has been chair of the State of New York Mortgage Agency, and, since 2016, chair of the City University of New York Board of Trustees. In addition, he has been a Board Member of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation and is Trustee Emeritus at Tufts University.

Under Governor Andrew Cuomo, he serves as Chair of the Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises Task Force and sits on the New York State Gaming Facility Location Board.
